Help with sql query

I have a table containing scores for all players. Each player is part of a group. I have a query that pulls the top 1 person from each group. Now I need a query to list everyone else BUT the top 1 person in each group. I just can not figure out how to build the query.

Show us the query you use to get the top person in each group... I'm thinking a sub-query might be needed.

I'll post the query when I get back to the office. I should add the version of Mysql I am running is 3.23.58-log. I know it is old, but at the moment there is no way to upgrade it yet. We are working on that. From what I can tell, this version does not support sub-queries tho does it?

No, it doesn't. So, you might just have to use LIMIT to supply an offset and a very high number (e.g. "LIMIT 1, 999" to retrieve all {technically, 999} rows except for the first row).
