Hi,

Can anyone point out why this won't work. It's simple but I have no clue except I think it is in the action= somewhere. Thanks.

Try this:

<form action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" method="post">

(This assumes you want the form action to point to its own file as the form handler.)

I tried that and got the 404 error "Page cannot be displayed" Here is the amended code:

Are you sure your server supports PHP?

Or if you are running locally on your PC, are you running a local webserver and accessing the file via a "http://localhost/filename.php" address on your browser (rather than opening up the file directly)?

I just installed IIS on this machine (windows 2k) so I am running it locally. What do I need to do to get this code to work?

I just uploaded to my ISP server which I know supports PHP and got the same result, Page cannot be displayed.

I copied and pasted your code, and it worked fine on my PC. All I can think of right now is to make sure your editor saved it as a plain ASCII text file, and not as a Unicode text file or any proprietary file type.

So do I or don't I save it as an HTML file? If not, how do you run the script?

What editor are you using? I save it as a .php file, using the HTML-Kit text editor (which by default saves it as a plain ASCII text file).

I just downloaded your editor, copied the file contents into it, saved it as a .php file and tried to run it. I still get page not found. ARRRGH
