is there a code that i can export/backup my mysql database from inside a private/admin area of a website??

also is there a way to export as say an excell file or sertain sections of a site??

i know this can be done inside of phpmyadmin but is there a code to do this from inside an admin section to backup a database/website or download certain section of the website.

It's really just a few SQL queries and then your own custom .sql script.

You can download SMF (www.simplemachines.org) and look at thier DatabaseDump.php file. It steps through how to do it.

But essentially you dump the table structure for all the tables using a query like:

SHOW TABLES LIKE %

Then, you'd loop through each table and dump the contents. I suggest you look at the file I referenced above as it does a good job.

Use mysqldump from the command line, as described in the MySQL manual.

Normally we write a script which will run the relevant reports and spit the results out as a CSV, which can be loaded into MS Excel quite easily.

If you want tighter integration, you'll need something more involved, like MSExcel macros which use a programmatic query or something.

basically in my project im on with i think it could be a good idea to have a back up and restore option from inside the admin CMS

I was viewed a many scripts for backup mysql, from different countries.
This scripts is the most better. It is very fast. It used compression and other features. It work with differrent enconding. It not load all file in operation memory (MEM), and can work with very large files, for example - a some Gb.

The author of this script very good know english. You can write letter for him. He live in Kiev, Ukraine.

Many web-developers of Russia, Ukraine etc... using this script.

The code of this script is very understandable. You can understand it yourself.
