I had a field that was recording dates in varchar(255) type. Upon realizing the error someone on this forum told me how to convert that field type into datetime using:
UPDATE pets SET testdate = STR_TO_DATE(date, '%m/%d/%y')
All went well but I realize now that I probably should have used Date because I don't need the hours, min, sec and it looks really ugly displayed on the site.
So now I need to know how to change it from Datetime to Date. I tried the code above but it was incorrect.
