[RESOLVED] body innertext

Hi,

In visual basic, if dw is a htmldocument object, then dw.body.innertext will be the inner text of body.

That means just the "text" of body eliminating all formating, etc.

What is the equivalent in PhP?

if $content is a page of a website, what can we do to get the body.innertext of the website?

php is server side, there is no equivalent

you could use regexp to get everything between the <body> and </body>

$content = $matches[0];

Now that'll get rid the header.

Just want to add that DOM works for PHP 5. For PHP 4 use http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.domxml.php

Because I can't use it for PHP4, I just use the following:
preg_match ("'(.?<body.?>)(.?)(</body>.?)'si", $content , $matches);

After that I'll eliminate all things in the form of < >

Which, it should be noted, did not have an HTML parser (and won't: PHP 4 has only seen bugfix activity for coming on to three years now).
