[RESOLVED] Arrays - Im just an idiot

Sorry, im being lazy, i cant face google, not for a week, i have been googling my brain out about my (^%&* qmail server, but thats another story...

well i hoping some nice person who knows this straight off (another justification for this post is the search function in this forum isnt working)

i want to list in a vertical list a two-d array
1 -file 1
2 - file 2

dosent have to be fancy but yeah...

if its any diff this array isnt coming from SQL server but an FTP server

Im thinking some while loop or something - also can the data be in a table

wait now that i think of it i would like to know how to format the entries in the table

another justification is im gonna have some tries now at dreamweaver so

Well I'm a bit confused by your question but you could try this:

foreach($yourarray as $item)
{
   echo "<tr><td>". $item ."</td></tr>";
}
?>
</table>

well if he wants and ordered list dont use tables (as this isnt tabular data to begin with)

echo '<ol>';

foreach($yourarray as $item)
{
   echo "<li>". $item ."</li>";
}

echo '</ol>';

Well thanks heaps guys both work one says file: $filename

the other says 1: $filename etc.

thanks for the help - ill mark as resolved, and id just like to know whats the diff between an ol and a table??

ps i was having a lot of thoughts when i asked the question...

ol is an HTML command to make an ordered list...it can be used to add bulletins or numbering, etc. to a list of data.

the tr and td tags are HTML for making table rows and table data, placing your results in an easier to format table.

-ol is an "ordered list" this will give you items labeled 1,2,3,4,5,6,etc...

-ul is an "unordered list" this will give you items labeled with a bullet

-table is an "table" that allows you to arrange tabular data, similar to an excel spreadsheet, for presentation... tables are often used for layout and other purposes for which there are better suited elements...

in this case it looked to me that u wanted a numbered list, so i presented you with code using "ol"
