[RESOLVED] Sorting a Table into an array in mysql

Can someone tell me how to sort at table using a while function. This is what i want to do. I have table that has 17 fields, the first two are id and date and the rest of date..but what i want to do is take the data and sort it by the date and put the rest of the data under that date.
example:
date
Data
date
Data
I asume the array will look like this

result[0][0]
result[0][1]
result[1][0]
result[1][1]
and so on

1, 01-01-2007, 111, 12
2, 01-01-2007,112,15
3, 01-02-2007, 111, 36
what i wanted it to look like is this:
01-01-2007
Store twb
111 12
112 15

        01-02-2007

Store twb
111 36

How this helps

the query us only query on table.

I know how to use the SORT BY function in sql but i need to sperate the it

it helps because it puts your words into something I understand, your description wasnt... very good 😉

you can get your data into an array that appears like this by doing the following

SELECT * FROM table WHERE ....
while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($res)){
$data[$row['date']][] = $row;
}

then you can loop through the array later.. by date and get the total # of items for each date via count($data['some-date-value'])

If thats all you are going for its as simple as

SELECT * FROM Table WHERE 1
while($row=mysql_fetch_assoc($result)){
   if($prev != $row['date']) {
       //close table and start new one
      $prev = $row['date'];
   }
   //output row data
}

Thank you, Karl for your help.. I think i was over complicating the issue.
