take existing image and place on new GD image

when i do:

$logo		 = imagecreatefrompng("images/logo.png"); 
imageCopyMerge($img, $logo	, 1, 1, 0, 0, 48, 48, 48);

along with a bunch of other images, they show up faded and in some instances with some dark background

how can i force them the have a clear or white background.... also how can i make the images look as vibrant as the originals?

Perhaps you want 100 for the last parameter of imagecopymerg()?
