The Post Superglobal

hi,

i have a user login to an ftp server, but thats not the point, the poin tis when they login, the post data is sent and bingo they login,but when they go to upload a file to $PHP_SELF they are not logged in, because the post data is destroyed, how can i keep the post vars for more than one page, i tried $session = $post but that dosent work (i figured that $sess is like a symlink to post).

I assume page 2 (with the 'missing' $_POST variable) is another form like

<form method=POST>
<input type=submit name=submitthis value='Click here to upload the file'>
</form>

In which case, when you write that page, include any variables you wish to retain as 'hidden' values:

echo "
<form method=POST>
<input type=submit name=submitthis value='Click here to upload the file'>
<input type=hidden name=postvalue1 value='".$_POST['valueIwant']."'>
</form>
";

This form will submit postvalue1: check $_POST['postvalue1'] for its value.

The superglobals are all uppercase. For more information on them, see this manual page: [man]variables.predefined[/man].

Also, if $PHP_SELF works for you, then you need to disable register_globals and redesign your scripts so that they don't depend on this directive ($_SERVER['PHP_SELF'], for example, would replace $PHP_SELF).

yer i thought of hidden fields, but is there no other way, like what if they want to follow a link? the next page wouldn't have the vaues and therefore would be auto logged out,

i pretty much want session vars to replace post vars ----- wait!! i have just found the answer !

--- use an if statement at login to "save" the post vars in sess vars

i use dreamweaver - it puts the superglobals in caps automatically

and ahh ok my register_globalsis off so il use _server['PHP_SELF']
