sql question.

Hello,

I have a table:

ID NAME

The IDs are just numbers and for the most part, there is 1 ID to 1 NAME....

1234 Tom Smith
5433 John Doe

But sometimes there is the same ID for more than one name:

2224 Tina Yothers
2224 Alex Keaton

How can i find out which IDs are in the table more than once?

It might be something like:
SELECT ID FROM tablename WHERE COUNT(ID) > 1 GROUP BY ID;

I tried:

SELECT id
FROM my_types
WHERE COUNT( id ) >1
GROUP BY id

however got an error: "Invalid use of group function"

Group by queries can be tricky. Try this...

SELECT id, COUNT(*) AS my_count
FROM my_types
GROUP BY id
HAVING my_count > 1
ORDER BY my_count DESC

That should give you a list of id's with row counts in descending order.
