Not sure how to do this

Hi,

I've managed to get some php code pulling entries from my database and seperating them into pages, but what I don't know how to do is how to incorporate that into my current page ( www.flashculture.com). This is the current script i' got online, http://www.flashculture.com/pagetestV7.php?pagenum=1 ignore all the n's" etc.

Btw, when I took that script and put it into the table in the middle of the page (ie the content part), it gave me these errors

"Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/linux/e/flashculture.com/user/htdocs/pagetestV2.php:9) in /home/linux/e/flashculture.com/user/htdocs/connect.php on line 2
"

but then after that it does display the correct text, so i'm not sure whats going on!

You cannot make any [man]header/man or [man]setcookie/man calls before writing output. As such, you cannot blindly dump a script in the middle of nowhere and expect it to work.

I thought you could because i've seen >?php in different parts of a htm page, and they seem to work. Ok, so I have to make the entire page a php page? and put the connect database stuff at the top??

That's a typo from Laserlight, You cannot make any [man]header/man or [man]setcookie/man calls after writing output.

So if you're trying to use the header function to drop content into the middle of the page that has already sent output, it won't work.

If however you get the content and drop it into a variable then you can drop it inline like

 <?php echo $var ?>

could you show me a quick example of that, using a connect.php at the top to connect to a database, and then some html, with the php in there somewhere?

This is a rough idea of how to go about it.

//Your mysql connection include or script here
$conn = mysql_connect("localhost", $user,$password);
//your mysql query here 
$sql = "SELECT lastName FROM tableName WHERE id =1";
$result = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error());
//process the results 
//used mysql_fetch_field() as I would only expect one result from this, you would 
//probably use mysql_fetch_array() and then loop through the results
$name = mysql_fetch_field($result);
