little help on php

hi all,
does anyone has any info regarding "uve" & "htdocs"

i've been asigned a project n for that i've to use php \
i was reading the manual on php.net on installation n got all confused!
so if anyone can tell me a simple way of installing php
cuz during instalation it was asking for some apache mudule(what is it?)
n
it also requires a database mysql ... plz guide me how to do it...

i'll be very thankful ....

You might want to look into using WAMP or XAMPP for a simple, quick installation process if you just want to get it up and running (as opposed to gaining a thorough understanding of how to install and configure all the various pieces manually).

no ... i am also reading the manual...
if u say so ... then i am going to read the whole thing ,..
but the problem is that there are to many links n different versions of php i.e php4, php 5 , then 4.2.1 sometghing like that ... n then therez instalation of apache n also mysql ... i dont have much info on apache n mysql n then i get confused

plz send me to the right path!! ...

Best method I can recommend is heading down to the local book shop and picking up a copy of "Setting up LAMP" on Sybex Press. It is written by the Web Freaks guys ... PHPFreaks, ApacheFreaks, etc...
