Preg Replacement

Hello,

I know I need to understand regular expressions but quite honestly they are really confusing me. Could someone help me understand how to change the following link using a preg replacement?

/cgi-bin/hw3/hw3.cgi?config=&forecast=tropsystems&year=&region=PZ&hwvstormid=6&alt=tropsystempage&hwvmetric=

This all I can do to get the link correct so when the code is executed it reads correctly:

/\cgi-bin/\hw3/\hw3.cgi?config=&forecast=tropsystems&year=&region=PZ&hwvstormid=6&alt=tropsystempage&hwvmetric=

I have no idea what to do to the = and ? , and I think & can be changed to &?

Well if you are trying to embeed the above link into a php statement or document, I don't see a problem. I also see your above link is using CGI and not php. If you are using php, you can use the addslashes() statement to possible problematic content. Can you post your source code that this is in reference to?

I can see no reason for the "\" characters after the "/" characters. Perhaps we need more explanation as to why you need to do that?

As far as the ampersands:
