How to create this in PHP

Hello, I have no PHP knowledge but I'd like to be able to create this and I know that PHP can do this. When you upload a image by FTP the image is turned into a smaller (thumb) automaticlly and put on a specific part of the page and then a link is created from that smaller (thumb) image to the bigger image using a javascript which I have to show the bigger image. And this is all done automaticlly all that is to be done is upload the image and I suppose their has to be a way so that the PHP would know what images to do this for and which ones not too. I hope this can be done and someone can help me with this, I want to learn PHP but I need to get something like this pulled off soon so if anyone can work with me and help with whatever means please and thank you.

There must be hundreds of PHP-based photo album scripts out there, many of which will do most/all of what you need, some of which are open-source freeware.

NogDog - I would like to know I'm searching as I write this but I'm looking for something whereas I can use my own design for the gallery instead of a design which is difference once the client gets to the gallery page? You know of any which work like this ?

In other words I can create my own graphic and tie it in with the PHP album script.

I don't have any personal suggestions, as I've not really had to deal with this. For me, the ideal application would be one which outputs well-structured, semantic, valid HTML with plenty of ID and class attributes in the tags, allowing me to apply my own CSS stylesheet to the resulting pages. As to which ones (if any) do this, I do not know. It might be worth your while to narrow the search on "skins" or "skinning", to find those that have some sort of built-in mechanism for customizing the appearance.
