I think it's time to follow the Micro$oft model and stop numbering releases. So, are you all going to be early adopters of PHP "Panorama" when it is finally released? 😉

Haha, just the other day I browsed through a website that aimed to get web hosting companies and major script providers to provide and code in PHP5.2

Looks like their effort was good, but it simply cannot beat an announcement from the PHP developers themselves.

So, are you all going to be early adopters of PHP "Panorama" when it is finally released?

I'll have to see how good PHP NogDog is, first.

Ah yes, Go PHP5 was the website. I probably saw it somewhere on this message board, perhaps as a link on someone's signature.

In Microsoft's defense, at least you knew where you stood with regard to your current version. This naming of the releases is just way too confusing for blondes like me - who can keep track? 🙂

php5.... I'm still not completely sure I've immersed myself in it yet 🙂

php4.... I haven't ever coded anything that's straight php4 compatible yet 🙂

RoundCube Webmail was approached about being a part of gophp5. With RoundCube's next release, it will be php5 only (well, like RoundCube 1.0 I think). Good to see that PHP finally realized that they can drop php4. I mean Fedora drops support 6 months after a new release (so like in 5 months fedora core 6 will be unsupported).

I just seen this today (was on holiday)... bye bye PHP4 🙂 maybe in 3 years we will say bye to php5.

I think this is a highly called for change - its about time like everyone said.

I fear that as soon as everyone finally gets on board with PHP5, PHP6 will run into the same brick wall in crossing over.

Hopefully the gophp5.org effort sets a model that makes things easier and more effecient next time around though.

going by current trends (3 years since php5's release) we could be talking another 6-8 years for php7.

Kinda surprised microsoft have not tried to steal the PHP.
