I need to run a query if a user age is within specified age range. User age is store in a table in 0000-00-00 format the age limits are passed by two vars:

$ageMin = 25;
$ageMax = 35;

I can do it in a php function but I'd like to perform this validation in a query string. Is it possible?

Assuming the 0000-00-00 format column is a date type field and represents the user's birth date (untested):

. . . WHERE CURDATE BETWEEN `birth_date` + INTERVAL 25 YEAR AND 
`birth_date` + INTERVAL 36 YEAR - INTERVAL 1 DAY

Holy smokes. I used something similar before but never even thought about this solution in this particular case...

I'm having difficulty getting it to work...
The manual shows that I need to do something like

SELECT 1 BETWEEN 2 AND 3;

or in my case

SELECT user 
FROM t1
WHERE city = '".$cityVar."'
AND userAge BETWEEN ageLimit_from AND ageLimit_to

Now, I have age limits passed from submitted form. I just need to figure out how to get userage on the fly from given age stamp 0000-00-00. I'm not sure I need CURDATE. Here's where I'm at right now...

Ok, here's what I came up with and it seem to work fine.

SELECT user 
FROM t1 
WHERE city = '".$cityVar."' 
AND ((YEAR(CURDATE())-YEAR(dob)) - (RIGHT(CURDATE(),5)<RIGHT(dob,5)) BETWEEN ageLimit_from AND ageLimit_to)
