I've got a textbox on my website and it's asking for date of birth...
How can I check that the format is

Day/Month/Year ie: 12/10/75

If something like 12Oct1975 it gives you an error?????

This would be a good place to use three select boxes instead of a simple text box. You'll save yourself a lot of headaches...

With that sort of format, you can never be absolutely sure. For instance, if the user enters 01/03/07 can you be sure whether he means 01 March 2007, 03 January 2007, or 07 March 2001? As Alimadzi suggests, it's a lot easier to be relatively sure if you give the user 3 select boxes to use rather than counting on him typing it in exactly the way you want it to be.

Or as many sites do it, you can even so select drop down lists. Then they cant get the day/month mixed up.

you can do reg ex in js and specify the format you are looking for
