adding time

hi everyone,

i am looking for help on how to add players playing time.

currently i have to input time into db as a whole # ie (64 mins)

i want to change that so I get more accurate stats. so i want to input time like this

59:32 (59 min 32 sec) or if overtime 64:45 (64 min 45 sec)

I can't figure out how to input into db. I tried the time function 00:00:00 and nothing.. once I get into db I think i can figure the rest out from there

any help is appriciated

What type of column are you using in the database for this (int, float, other?), and in what units does it measure (minutes?)?

right now i am using int

i can enter in whole numbers from 1 to anything to 999999

If it is an INT column, and if you want resolution in seconds, then you'll need to save the time in seconds. You could use the MySQL TIME_TO_SEC function to do this if the value you have is an hh:mm:ss string:

$time = '00:34:56';
$sql = "INSERT INTO `table`  (`playing_time`) VALUES(TIME_TO_SEC('$time'))";
