Ftp /unzip /write files

I am wanting to be able to go from a php form and ask ftp details and transfer a zip file to a remote server, unzip it and then write 1 or 2 files on the remote server, something like a remote script installation - any tips ??

SMF do this with their forums, there is a file on thier website called webinstallation, i have never looked at the code, but it may be a way to get started.

I have looked at that webinstall and it is basically what I am wanting but it it too complex to try to make work-
Basically my script just need to be unzipped with directory structure, check for permisssions and then write a common.php file with a few variables..

Looking for something KISS
