.htaccess woes again

Hi there, I currently have an .htaccess file that directs users from my website

http://www.domain.com/individual-page/

to

http://www.domain.com/page.php?page=individual-page

My problem is that I also have AWstats installed in the AWstats directory but obviously when i try to go to /awstats it is processed by the .htaccess file and does horribly wrong, is there a way i can exclude the awstats directory from being processed by the .htaccess rules?
