error in php file execution

hi i am new new to open source, and i am using php5 and suse linux 10.2
when i try to go to a php script, its not executing in the browser, instead a box opens and it offers me to downloas or save the file as if i am downloading files
(ie., while i give "http://localhost/osbo" in the browser it should execute the index.php file but its open a window to save this file),please help me

Are you sure you installed PHP? If so, did you configure the web server to work with PHP? I think that one possibility is that the media type for PHP has not been set correctly.

to check php running r not i have created one php filecalled index.php and with this code <?php infophp(); ?> but this one is executing,
