Regex Help Please

i need to preg_match_all that string so that i get:

to\file*

where * is anything after that

as the result

I'm not sure what to suggest here, as it's not clear to me what the matchable patterns might be. Is it always in the format you've shown with 5 strings between backslashes? If it can vary, then what determines which parts you want to extract?

Perhaps a few realistic examples showing a potential string followed by the part of that string you want matched would be helpful?
