[RESOLVED] Money Table

Well since I started with PHP I think I know what to do to store money, but I don't know how to code it and what settings to use when i make the Table and fields.

Just to the question:

I need a money function... Like a user has some money and he will earn more by clicking on things.

But the question is how I can store the money in a table?

What should the fields be named and how should the code be?

I think I should use a table to store the money in and then have a code that shows the money to each user, but how can i separate so each user has its own money? And what codes do I need to show the users their money?

Set up a USERS table and have columns such as ID, USERNAME, and MONEY.

To display the money a user has, look up how to do a mysql select command, there are plenty of examples.

To add or subtract money, look up how to do a mysql update command.

Hope that gets you started in the right direction.

Thank you for replying! It solved just some of my problem, you see I don't really know what settings to put the money field in... should i use varchar (32)? Or INT(1)?

Or where can I find these commands? Any good links?

You should definitely use a DECIMAL data type for the money field
INT is for integers, which means you won't be able to store numbers such as 3,44$ or whatever
VARCHAR is for characters, it would store your data as a character string, not as a decimal number (which an amount of money basically is)

Edit: But do you got two just small codes that I can just add to my code?
I mean could you tell me a small php script that shows the money to a player?
And one that adds money to a player?

If you can tell me those two codes the problem would be solved.

The table name is: users
The field name to usernames: username
the field name to money: money

I made the account system and so on... But my problem is to make the money more... I found out how to show how much money you got... but not how to update the amount with more money.

People are usually more willing to help you if you show you are trying to help yourself. Post some of the code you've been working on by clicking on GO ADVANCED below or quoting my post and then click on the PHP button in the post editor. That will highlight the php code to make it easier for us to read.

While I don't think deezard's comment was necessary, it does show that you aren't usually going to get a free handout when it comes to code. What happens is people join forums with very few posts, say "Hey, can I get some code" and then never come back. Sometimes you'll get someone that's bored or really a saint and wants to help, but you're better off in the long run if you work through your own problem with ASSISTANCE from others, rather than getting the answer handed to you.
