Maybe someone can help me out here.
I am trying to make sure that a member uses http:// in their url, which I did with this


if(preg_match("/http(s?):\/\//",$url)){

if it has it, then it gets inserted into DB

My problem is preventing them from using 2 instances of http:// or https://

I noticed that http://http://www.test.com can be added..

Any help please...

Can you tell me what that actually does ?
Does it handle http and/or https cause it looks like just https
Just trying to understand things..

Take a look at the PHP Manual's entry on PCRE pattern syntax. You will find that the ? means "0 or 1 times", hence "https?" matches both "http" and "https". The ?! is a negative assertion asserting that "http://" or "https://" is not followed by "http:" or "https:".
