[RESOLVED] Data goes missing

Hi,

I am in the process of setting up a "data management area" for my website using Apache/PHP/MySQL.

As the table expands to include information, some of the data previously entered disappears

As an example I have 23 items within the table, some hold small amounts of Data (6 characters), others locations, owners, etc. hold data up to 100 characters.

Now it seems that if I put too much data in one record, some of the data previously entered disappears. Not every time only occasionally though 😕

My question is, can the amount of data entered into the record be limited? If so, how do I increase the amount of data allowed?

look at what your field types are, they can be producing errors or limiting your data
for example a varchar field of 50 characters wont take a 100 character string.

The next thing is to look at how your information is being entered, i can be getting chopped up or mixed up

it would help to post the table structure and some sample data where it's failing

Hi Rulian,

Thanks for the advice, I looked at the form data and I had forgotten to add the " before and after a value input I was using in the Data management pages.

It is all working Ok now

I will learn by my mistakes 🙂
