I'm the founder of a charity called Memories for Surviving Kids. Please check out our Web Site at http://www.mfsk.org . Our mission is to encourage friends and family of deceased parents to write letters for the surviving children. I would like to work with programmer(s) to co-develop a supporting tool on our Web Site. The tool would be interactive with the user being asked questions about their deceased friend or family member, and the result would be a letter for the children in pdf format that could be emailed or snail mailed to the surviving parent or guardian of the children. I know a bit about programming, but not quite enough to pull this off I don't think. I hope to make the tool fun and worthwhile, so please have a sense of humor along with your generous heart. Thank You.
Depending on how much help is extended I was thinking anywhere from a simple fill in the blank form to getting as entertaining as your skills would allow. I can picture prompting the user for a time frame when they knew the deceased parent and then using db tools to return popular movies, songs, and TV shows in that time frame and question whether the deceased had enjoyed those. I could see a portion of the tool behaving like a space invaders type scenario where personality traits would creep down the screen and the user would gather those that described the deceased in a basket. I just think it would be great if the tool was fun. The object being to generate as many letters as we can for the children that did not get to know their parent very well.
