Show status while searching

I have a video search engine www.ifindvideo.com
Everything works fine.
Now I want to show the status while it search those video site.
I.E.

search("youtube");
echo "searching youtube...";
search("myspace")
echo "searching myspace...";

I guess it need ajax to do so.
But I don't know how.

It seems like you could simply echo a statement before beginning each search, example being: echo "Searching Google Videos <br />"; but I assume you want to do more than just that. Could you please explain a little more fully what it is you are trying to do?

I can use flush to display.
But it won't display nicely. Basically, I want the message show in the middle of my web page, not just on top of the page.
