I am moving a site of mine to a new server and would like to take advantage of these technologies that prevent my server from having to recompile my php scripts every time they are run. So far, I have found:
PHP Accelerator - free, from ion cube

cons: only works for php 4.4...haven't seen any for php 5? this might be ok because my site was written for php 4.
Zend Accelerator, which apparently requires that you purchase Zend Platform (no prices on the website, but i understand it can be big $$$).

Does anyone have experience with these (or other similar packages)? Are they stable? safe? Do they really speed things up?
