how long will you keep a shopping cart cookie alive?

Hi, how long you will keep a shopping cart cookie alive? 1 day, 1 week, 1 month?

You want to keep it there say if the client come back next day to finish the order. But you don't want to keep it too long, say I put something in the cart a few months ago, and I am not interested in it any more. Now I am going to order the new product, but these old items are still in my cart and I have to delete them.

But the way, I also have "save to list" feature that if the client want to save the items in the list for the future usage, I will save the information in the database without expire date.

So in this case, how long you suggest to keep the shopping cart alive? I saw some shop keep it for 1 day, some keep it forever if I am not clean my cookie myself.

Personally, I set them for a year. No particular reason. Never had a complaint.
