AFTER form field validation

I have completed a fairly extensive registration form for psych testing. All of the form field validation and error resolution is working very well.

Flushed with that success, I thought I'd tackle the problem of heavy-handedness on the submit button. Over some 10 days I struggled, without success, with all manner of script solutions and finally ripped all trace of that out.

Next attempt I thought of would be to use the header route with Location, taking clients to a new page with an acknowledgement for them but without the form itself. No can do, of course, because I ran into the infamous header redirection problem.

At the moment, it seems I have no alternative but to rely on mysql to sort out duplicates. Has anyone come across a solid solution to this? I'm sure ready to listen, because I've been impressed with all the other applications I have been building for the site with php.

Not sure about the "of course" part, there. Just make sure you do all the form validation and processing and then the header redirect before anything is output to the client.

Oh, by 'of course' I meant that by the time verification has been fully satisfied there has been considerable back and forth. This is because the window is divided so the form is in the left div, commentary in the right. Lots opf raves about how ell that looks and works, but ..... I cannot now pick up the pieces. Basically that is done with 3 main 'else ifs' and an 'all clear' which is where I find myself now without a paddle.

There's always the output buffering solution: start your form-processing script with ob_start(); (at the very top of the file before anything is output, including text or white-space not withing <?php tags), then do your location header() whenever you want. Once you get past the point in the code where you do the header(), you can do an ob_end_flush(); if there is still a good amount of output to be generated, otherwise just let it automatically flush as script end.

Ahhhh . that worked beautifully 'NogDog'.

I had read about this functionality but always in connection with sessions. Since the header solution is more to my esthetic liking, I am a very happy camper.

Now for the final step of setting up the mysql linkage. Been there before over the years with 'C' so I expect to find myself on familiar ground.
