Highlighting specific words in iframes?

I have a page that loads multiple iframes containing different searches. I am trying to get the page to highlight all the words that I specify (in the code). Like when Google highlights search results. If I use the Google Toolbar and search just Google in the iframes, everything will highlight perfectly but the highlight stops working every time I click a link in any iframe so I'd rather program the highlighting onto the page and not rely on the toolbar. Any ideas?

Unless you are loading a page from your own site into the Iframe, the only control you have over an Iframe element is its size, border, scrollbar, and the URI of its content.

If you want to modify it's appearance, you would have to grab its HTML text into a string in your script, then modify it as desired, then output directly into your page's output. The problem (if you consider it a problem) is the visual layout, as things like applying any CSS stylesheets the source page uses, displaying images if the source site does not allow hot-linking, etc. would all take a non-trivial amount of work to reconcile.

Do you think it would be too resource heavy to put say 30-40 pages into variables on a single page?

Basically, I'm making something that will search Google for everything I select at once, all in different iframes on the same page. If i check 40 boxes next to 40 different terms, it will load a page containing 40 iframes of Google search results, 1 for each of the different terms and I want to know if a related keyword is in any of those searches.

I'm looking to see if just the first page of the Google search result contains one or more keywords that I would specify in my coding and raise a flag so I can check it out. Right now I use the Google toolbar which will highlight everything, but if I click on any links in the iframes, the highlighting has to be restarted and it's a pain.

Server resources would probably not be a problem, but time would, as you would have to sequentially connect to each site and download the page. So if it takes an average of 3 seconds (an arbitrary number) to grab each page, then you'd be talking 90-120 seconds to process your script (in addition to whatever time it takes to process itself).
