I know this is probably a simple noob problem but I hope someone can me...

I am trying to implement a captcha script into my existing search script/form

My question is how do I incorporate the captcha form into my existing form?

Do I just add my own form elements to the existing captcha form and set my own script to the "action" parameter ?😕

Will the "Verify" button then execute my script (after I add my one form fields) ?

Yes, you should merge your own form fields and the captcha fields in a single form. When users click on Verify both kinds of fields will be submitted to server.

What does your "script" mean?

If you wish to run JavaScript (for validation, say) after Verify is clicked, you may add an OnClick event handler.

The PHP script that receives the form data (that is specified in the "action" attribute of the "form" tag) should firstly verify the captcha result and then process your form data.

The form in the web page includes both captcha fields (say, a1, a2) and your own fields (say, b1, b2). The PHP script retrieves the variables by $_POST['a1'], etc.

Firstly, determine whether the user answered the captcha correctly by checking a1, a2. If it is no good, display the form again with new captcha question. If the answer is fine, go ahead to process b1, b2 as normal.

BTW, have you tried to search for ready-made captcha classes in PEAR? Why bother to reinvent the wheel? 😕
