Including Php files Help

Hello. Is it possible to only inclued part of a php file? And if it is how do you do that. Thanks.

Kind of.

The PHP complier will process the entire PHP file BUT you can use if statements (and other such functionality) to section out your code so the compiler will only step through that portion of the logic (the compiler will look at your other code, so make sure the syntax is correct).

An example that I use all the time is when I want to use the same page to listen for a FORM submit:

if($_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD']=='POST')
{
   // insert my POST logic here
   ...
   exit;
}
// insert my regular (GET) logic here
...
?>
<form ...>
...
</form>

The whole file is still "included", all you did is to execute part of it 🙂

I am afraid there is no straightforward way to achieve it. A silly method is to open it and read the necessary parts, then run it as PHP script by eval().

Just curious, for what you just wish to include part of a file? Would it be more simple to split the file into logical fragments and "include" the needed pieces?😕
