Is anybody excited about this update? there is a huge volume of chatter on the Internet about it. However, I don't see it making a huge difference.
Will everything that is currently there remain on the default namespace or will it be a compatibility nightmare?

Hey, thats pretty nice. If I remember correctly there will be a PHP namespace, but I presume that it will be default and globally accessible to maintain BC.
Also noticed that also in 5.3 the sockets extension is being moved from the core. Alot of my work revolves around TCP/IP comms with various apps on our network. Gonna have to remember that change 🙁
A new version of Zend Framework is a must, then:
class Zend_Pdf_FileParser_Image_Png extends Zend_Pdf_FileParser_Image
And I do get tired of saving typing by
class Image extends Namespace_Subnamespace_CertainKindOf_Image{}
oooh... That will make the zend framework feel much nicer. I forgot about that despite having used it all day. haha
