remove stuff from data

I have a large bunch of data, it contains "white spaces" and other rubbish formating.

How can I remove all this stuff but still keep basic HTML tags like <b> and <br> etc..

i dont know if there is such a function
that would fit your exact case

but you could make your own custom replace/remove
using [man]preg_replace[/man]

only you know what your data is like and how you would want it 'cleaned up'

'white spaces' I know what it is - you want to remove all spaces?
this, as you know, will do it str_replace( ' ', '', $data );

'rubbish formating' can mean almost anything

Open the file in wordpad, use the replace command to replace three spaces with nothing, then double spaces with single space, repeat this few times, then all the single space will remain and the extra spaces will be erased.
