Worst Experience With NewEgg

Okay, so rather than type my story again, I'll just post the link to their forums. But has anyone had anything like this happen?

This happened to me once. The support person told me the fastest thing to do is have them cancel the order and order it again(after getting the address added with the CC company), she said that if it goes through verification again, it doesn't pick up the new authorized addresses, for what reason, i don't know...

shipping/billing address problems is definitely a problem, but it is better for them to err on the side of caution rather than to try and fix fraudelent claims

it's better for them to deny 1% of their orders rather than try and get even a small percent of fraudelent claims fixed as that costs money and problems with people suing newegg(the people who got their cards frauded)

frustrating, yes, but it happens and i've had it happen for other outfits aside from newegg

Yeah, but honestly, they have the name and number of the owner of the card. What's to stop them from calling the phone number associated with the card and asking them about it? My issue turned out to be an issue with how many addresses I had in the last 5 years (6 different places), not that I wasn't on the card.

The support don't typically do that, the verification is automated, just like you clicking "process checkout" or whatever, they don't verify, they basically just emulate what you are doing by clicking submit, thereby relying on the card company to be updated right away.

It's all about fraud man... if there weren't crooks out there, we wouldn't have politicians! Oops, wait, I meant to say, if there weren't crooks out there, we wouldn't need all these checks and balances that sometimes have issues for people purchasing items.

I agree, it sucks, but it would suck worse if some clown got ahold of my card(without me knowing) and used it to ship a thousand dollar computer somewhere.

eh... i don't think there is ever a too far when you are talking about people's financials and given the amount of credit card fraud out there, i'd have to disagree...

i've been in the similar situation where you were and it wasn't fun dealing with it, but in hindsight, i'd rather them be too cautious than too lax.

True... I guess my big issue was that the rep told me it failed verification because I had "too many" addresses on file with NewEgg over the past 5 years or so. So because I was so mobile, they wanted to verify my address, but never stated that was my issue, and when I called in they just pushed it through verification again.

Maybe it's just the incompetence of the reps, or more probably the ineptitude of the program to not include any information as to why it failed, or what the issue really is. So even if you call in for help, you can't get it.

Whatever, my stuff arrived. I just really didn't like this process. Next time, I'm using my own card....

It wouldn't get your stuff to you any faster but there used to be a website that would deliver a box of dogshit to someone anonymously. Too bad they're closed down.

haha... that's awesome!! Too bad according to them they're an "online merchant" and they don't really exist to receive documents......
