Retrieving an element from a Soap response

I am new to PHP and I am having trouble retrieving the following xpath value "//soapenv:Envelope/soapenv:Body/RateReply/RatedShipmentDetails/ShipmentRateDetai/TotalNetCharge/Amount"

Below is a sample of the Soap response.
Any help retrieving this value will be greatly appreciated.

I don't have a specific solution for you, but you probably want to look into using [man]SimpleXML[/man] (requires PHP5) or the [man]SOAP[/man] extension (requires the GNOME XML library).

I have tried to extract the reponse using SimpleXML in the following manner;

$XMLResponse->{'soap:Envelope'}->{'soap:Body->RateReply'}->RatedShipmentDetails->ShipmentRateDetail->TotalNetCharge->Amount

but I receive a "Notice: Trying to get property of non-object" error

Have you ever encountered this type of error?

I have to note that what you've got there doesn't look much like what you were after (this part: "{'soap:Body->RateReply'}" looks very wrong).

But NogDog was probably alluding to SimpleXML's XPath interface (which the DOM interface also recognises, of course).

Do you have any specific examples that I can use because everything I have tried so far hasn't worked?

I thought it was going to be an easy task retrieving the element from the soap response but it does not appear to be very straight forward.

Has anyone attempted to do this before? If so, can you provide me with some sample code on how to do this.
