Getting Age

I have three columns in my db (bMonth, bDay, bYear). I was wondering if there is an easy code out there to get someone's age based on these three fields? Any help is appreciated.

Assuming that you read out those three variables into $bMonth, $bDay, and $bYear, this will round their age down so that it will say they were 5 years old instead of 5.2356 years old.

$age = floor( ( ( time() - mktime(0, 0, 0, $bMonth, $bDay, $bYear) ) / 365 * 86400) );

Remove the floor() if you wish to make it show their precise age with all the decimal ugliness.

Close, but that doesn't account for leap years...

Try this:

function age_years($dob) {

$now = getdate();
$date_parts = explode("-", $dob);
$years = $now['year'] - $date_parts[2];
// Now lets see if they've had their birthday yet this year
$mon_day = ($now['mon]100) + $now['mday'];
$dob_monday = ($date_parts[0]100) + $date_parts[1];
If ($dob_monday > $mon_day) { // birthday has not happened
$years--;
}
return $years;
}

retrieve your values and set as variables $bMonth, $bDay, $bYear
$dob = $bMonth . "-" . $bDay . "-" . $bYear;
$age = age_years($dob);

That will give you exact Age.
