[RESOLVED] Problem with updating multiple columns.

I have this code:

@mysql_select_db(godofgod_p_bb1) or die( "There has been an error in your request. Please try again! Error: Unable to select database.");
$query = "UPDATE articles SET Email address = $email, title = $title, body = $article WHERE id = $id";
$result = mysql_query($query);
mysql_close();

if($result){
echo "Modified</font>";
}else{
echo"Error: Unable to modify database</font>";
}

It returns with "Error: Unable to modify database" but why doesn't it execute the query correctly?

You should really output the error:

mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error);

I tried your suggestion and It doesn't work. I outputted the error with mysql_error(); and it returns with this error:

You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'address = '[e-mail]', title = 'Funny pictures 2'

How does your table look like?

I think you have a problem with the following select part:

Email address = '$email'

I can't say for sure but do believe that: Email address is not a valid field name.

It works when I insert values into the table. I'll try it without updating that feild as it isn't that important anyway...

True igor, I missed that. You should always use backticks on table and column names, to be sure that it will work.

I get the feeling that you don't know that much about databases. A good idea is to read a tutorial or two.

Remember to normalize your tables, and to avoid sql injection.
