OK for some reason I change one html file and upload it and dreamweaver insists on uploading dependents. I tried edit - preferences - site and unchecked 'prompt before moving files on server' and that didn't help so i checked it and unchecked it and checked it again. this has got to stop. it's really annoying.
[RESOLVED] STOP putting dependent files
Dont use Frontpage/Dreamweaver. Unless you are forced to.
You can do better, cleaner code yourself.
Why use those, when there is notepad.exe ( or vim.bin )
Most of my stuff I have written using plain text editors. Line by line.
Because I want to know what I put in my pages.
To avoid all unnecessary GARBAGE.
halojoy i hope you realize that you have been completely unhelpful. are you trying to pad your post count or something?

He's been like this all day, absolutely useless. I actually thought he might have been a bot in one post, completely irrelevant.
I've had this happen to me a couple times - I think I just closed Dreamweaver and re-opened it and it worked fine. Mine's set to automatically upload dependents, and there should be an option to check on the dialog box asking you to include dependents if you want to always include them. I'm trying to find more information on it - Which version of Dreamweaver are you running? Mine's MX.
Edit: I got it - Go to Edit on the main toolbar, Preferences, Site. Check both boxes telling you to Prompt for dependent files, then upload a file with dependents. On the alert box asking if you want to include dependents, hit "Don't ask again" and choose No.
OK i finally got it. I was being a total idiot and checking/unchecking the wrong boxes. thanks for your help!
No problem
Glad to hear you won the fight with Dreamweaver... I've lost quite a few to it myself. Anyway, don't forget to mark this thread resolved.
Also...
