PHPDEV seems like the right package to me now I only need to know if I can install it on my QNAP-TS101 NAS. I think it runs on a Linux version but am unsure.

I use a webpage-like interface to administer the NAS, akin to what you use to configure your ADSL modem. I can add users, administer rights, create shares and the like.

I tried installing "regular" PHP but when I invoked install.php I kept getting this error msg on how PHP needs to be "compiled with the MySQL extention" or something to that extent. I did a search on this forum to no avail. Pls help.

Your NAS is a special-purpose machine which probably shouldn't be used to run PHP applications - keep it doing what it's good at, and install PHP somewhere else.

Appreciate your advice Mark but one of the design features of the QNAP includes the use as a webserver. I only need to know how to install PHPdev. Anyone pls?

Have you tried contacting Qnap's support?

I'm going to have to agree with Mark here. From the looks of it, you're not getting command line access to the NAS so its going to be hard for us to help you.

If you can get command line access, then you should download the php-dev package from php.net then follow the instructions to compile from source.

Yeah....they're the ones suggesting I'd use php because of ease of use.

That's exactly what I did in the mean timeπŸ™‚ Now I'd like to know how to install it. What kind of server to install, etc. Not having a lot of luck.πŸ˜• FI:When asked where the apache config files are located, I have no clue as to what to select. (Let alone if I should even install apache server:o )

                I did mention PHPDEV.............πŸ™‚

You don't need to install apache if you can't give people public access to port 80 on the NAS.

Did you try asking this same question on the PHPDev board? I haven't done an install for PHPDev myself... only php/lighttpd/mysql all on its own.

                    No I didn't but I'll try. Thx crux_op.

Would that be on this same forum, 'cause I can't seem to find it.
