[RESOLVED] Staying on a page until the cancel button is pressed

Im getting myself into a loop so i blew away my code in the hope that sombody can help.

I have a form, lets call that page 1. On that form i have a Button that says, LOAD CONFIG. When a user pressed LOAD CONFIG the second page is loaded. The problem is, i keep existing to page 1 instead of staying on page 2 until im ready to get out. Getting out is via the CANCEL button. I would like to stay on page 2 until the cancel button is pressed.

I would say something like.

Do while cancel button not pressed.

I supposed a while would do it but when i use a while i get myself into a loop.

I have used ZervWizard many times just for this kind of things. Check the tutorial in that page. Is that what you are after?

... I don't know if I'm understanding correctly - you want a regular form action, but if they hit cancel you want it to go back a page? That doesn't seem quite like what you're asking, but if it is, you could either use a JS onClick event on the cancel button and change the location of the page, or, for a PHP solution, make two submit buttons:

<input type="submit" name="submit" value="LOAD CONFIG" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Cancel" />

Then in your PHP code -

if (strtolower($_POST['submit']) == 'cancel') {
   header('location: whatever.php');
   die();
}
// otherwise you do your regular form stuff here

Ok let me explain this again.

I have a webpage. It contains a number of buttons which goes to a new page when clicked.

MAIN PAGE:

BUTTON 1
BUTTON 2
BUTTON 3

When i click on BUTTON 1 it loads up and new page, lets call that page 2, based on the SUBMIT.

So now im page 2 because i clicked on BUTTON 1

PAGE 2:

I want to stay on page 2 until i click on the EXIT button. This page also have a SUBMIT button. The problem is, if i click on the SUBMIT button it takes me back to the MAIN PAGE, but im not ready to exit page 2 yet. I want to stay on PAGE 2 until im ready to exit and the only way I can exit is if i click on EXIT. If i click on SUBMIT to do something, on page 2, i dont want to be kicked back to the MAIN PAGE.

So my question is how do i stay on the page until im ready to exist out of it? Is there a while statement that i can use that says something like.

do while the exist button is not clicked?

Did you check that zervwizard because that does what you are after? Forget about while loops, they got nothing to do with your problem.

Why are you setting it to go to MAIN PAGE?

It seems that you are making this more complicated than it really is. The best thing to do is make one page that has the forms and form handling. You just modify the output based on what the user has clicked. Use sessions to keep track what the user has done(thats how its done in the zervwizard example).

Helo, Im not interested in a checkout form. Im not processing multiples steps as in checkout of a product or requiring the ADMIN to enter signup information. I simply want to stay on the page im on till im ready to exist. I dont understand why this is so hard to do. The class does not do what i want.

Please review my requirements. I just want to go to page 2 on a button click and stay on page 2 until im ready to get out.

It's a form that can submit, but will keep you on the same page.

Thanks, thats what i have basically i guess its the best that can be done.

If you really don't want the page to load you can always use an ajax request to just send the data 🙂 But essentially it's the same thing but more graceful.
