Hi all,
I'm not sure where to post this thread so if I posted it in the incorrect forum my appologies!
I've been working on a website which I started installing on the hosting server. Now I'm testing it I frequently get errors... in Firefox it says:
The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
In IE I get the standard blank page (page not found).
I've been trying to figure this out and couldn't find a solution. Finally I resorted to stripping the html/php page bit by bit and I found that when I take out the base href tag the problem is gone. Yet I use base href so the browser know where to look for image/css/javascript files because I'm using the mod_rewrite module for nicer urls. (www.mysite.com/?product_id=1&do=show => www.mysite.com/1/show.html)
Has anyone experienced anything like this? And do you know the cause of it and a solution? Yes, hard coding the urls to all images and such is one idea but it shouldn't be necessary!
Any clues?
