Hi, Ive got my offices website offline, can I not run it?? Ive installed apache package to setup the server.......How do I run it offline and how do I edit so that I can have rollover buttons?? Im planning on using the existing images (buttons) and changing the color so I have to sets of buttons for the rollover.

Please help a newbiiii!

You can run it on a port that's not "usual" (i.e. other than port 80). So if you ran apache on say port 8080 you could access it; however, those that browse to your main site would see nothing (or a basic Apache page if you so choose).

Editing for the Roll Over effect can be done either with Javascript (which is what Dreamweaver does) or using CSS and the :hover pseudo-element. You can google for CSS roll-overs.

Ok, but sorry I dont understand.....I have the files of my website and Ive installed the apache package but I want to view my website locally (LIKE IN DREAMWEAVER when you can preview the website in internet explorer) and once that is cleared how do u make changes to php code? I mead where do you edit where do you open the file to change the code, etc?

I know these may be stupid questions but I want to understand the basics. Thanks

To edit the PHP in Dreamweaver you have to open the PHP file, and then click on the <> code view button in the tool-bar at the top (or under the View menu). Then go about your merry way coding PHP.

To view your files locally, use http://localhost as the URL and Apache will serve up whatever documents there are in it's declared document root.
