How to make a forum

Hi,
I am making a website for someone and they want a forum in their site. I dont know the steps to do this. Can someone help me? How complicated is it to make a forum like this?

What do I need to start with? Does anyone have a script I can go off of, if not can someone point me in the right direction?

This forum uses VBulletin for the forum software. For a list of many existing forum software packages (including many PHP-based forums), you might want to look at this thread at webdeveloper.com.

Writing your own forum from scratch would be a large project, and can be full of security holes if you do not know what you are doing.
