URGENT HELP NEEDED

Hello All,

I had the built-in Apache 1.3 server running under Mac OS X and i enabled Apple’s PHP module included in Mac OS X by un-commenting the respective lines in the httpd.conf file but then realized that some functions were only available under PHP 5x while the Apple PHP module was 4x. Because of this i went and downloaded the PHP 5x from http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/php/ and yes i know Marc writes "NOTE: If you have previously enabled Apple’s PHP module included in Mac OS X by un-commenting the respective lines in the httpd.conf file, you need to undo that change before you install this package, otherwise bad things will happen..." what if i did that and i kinda need to know what those bad things are and how to get things back up and running because my apache now is completely screwed and wont even shut down.

Normally one makes a backup of these sort of critical system configuration files. I take it you haven't got an httpd.conf.bak or .orig or anything of that nature?

If not, I'd recommend force-killing Apache using whatever the mac equivalent of 'kill' is in Linux, or use a graphical system process list of some kind. But anyways, kill off all instances of Apache, and re-configure your httpd.conf file - maybe find a demo one you can get online and just over write it, or go through and comment out the php4 module lines again?
