Can this be done? Email detection with 3rd part clients

Hi! I' like to create a script that will detect when I recieve an email from a certain person (I'm using Gmail), and then forward that email to a certain address...I'm a total newb, so I don't know where to start...can you lead me in the right direction?

Can't you just use Gmail's built in filters to address this issue?
