File download question.

Is it possible using PHP to know when someone is downloading a file from a server? I know it's possible to know when someone has started a download, but im unsure of how to detect when someone is actually downloading a file.

I would like to know so i can cap a maximum of 1 download per user.

The easiest way is to wrap it with a php script and readfile

Though what happens when someone accidently deletes somethig and wants to download it again?

Ok thanks - I've looked at the PHP documentation but i'm unsure of what you mean.

My previous post was a bit vague.

What i ultimately want is each user on my site to be capped with a (maximum) 2Kb per second download transfer rate and only be able to download one file at a time.

Therefore i need to know when a user has a download in progress. So, if they try and download another file at the same time i can block them.

Is this kind of monitoring possible with PHP and Apache? (Because thats what i'm using!)
