Pull JPGs from FTP with username/password

I have serveral thousand photos that are on an FTP server that is password protected that I need to use on a page, and the pictures are sorted in folders based on serial number.

Can I have PHP somehow login to the FTP server, and pull the photos over without the person viewing the webpage being asked for username/password?

there are the ftp-specific functions that wilku linked to, or if you need individual ones, you may be able to use file_get_contents if the appropriate fopen wrappers are compiled into your php install:
