I cant stand this site. What seems like a helpful site for a php idiot like me, first they require you to register but not before pumping 5 or more popups to my browser. My browers is so busy filtering out popups and banners that my IE eventually responds with (NOT RESPONDING).

So i register hoping that once i do i wont have to deal with the junk. Not so, even after registering as a member and now that they have my email address, they continue to blast me with popups and banners that makes my browser want to puke.

Iv looked around for some helpful classes only to find site navigation a total pain is the arse with slow screen writes, unfriendly site navigation techniques and banners and popups that would make a user never want to visit again.

This site is a joke if you ask me. Screw the helpful classes but im sick and tried of it. Dont i see enough "ASK YOUR DOCTOR" commercials on TV then i have to deal with a adblaster of a site when im online.

The point is, one or two banners etc is simply fine. When it interferres with the performance of your session because your browers is filtering crap its a different story. Why not make it a pay only site. Surely, if they consider the user submitted classes a gem then real people wont have a problem paying for it. I would much rather pay than to be pissed off with a free site that tries to hijack my browser.

Besides, how many of your actually read banners and popups? Anyone? So whats the point?

It's not about phpbuilder, it's about phpclasses. I agree with mike46 that the amount of advertising is ridiculous there, and the servers are responding somewhat slow. But then again, I think they started some "premium" services without the ads (payable).
And I understan that a site must earn its living - it's just that you cannot exagerate. Phpbuilder is a good example of well ballanced site with ads - I don't notice them anymore.

I don't use phpclasses.org anymore cause it is just one big advertisement ... PEAR is the place to go.
